• Renovation and Extension of the Kuopio City Theatre in Kuopio, Finland; designed by ALA Architects;
• Arctia Headquarters in Helsinki, Finland; designed by K2S Architects;
• The Gösta Pavilion of the Serlachius Art Museum in Mänttä, Finland; designed by MX_SI Architectural Studio (Spain) and Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Architects;
• House Riihi in Alajärvi, Finland; designed by Oopeaa / Anssi Lassila;
• Café Birgitta in Helsinki, Finland; designed by Talli Architecture and Design;
• Museum for the History of Polish Jews in Warsav, Poland; designed by Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects.
Initiated in 1987 after an agreement between the European Commission and the Barcelona City Hall, the 60.000 € prize is the highest award in European architecture. It is awarded biennially to works completed within the previous two years.
The aim of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture is to highlight recent, excellent examples of architectural creativity of works which are less than two years old and to underline that modern architecture is socially and culturally rooted in European cities and is important to people’s everyday lives.
