The Annual SAFA Architecture Seminar is held this year in Helsinki. The theme is SPACED and the lectures take place in Porthania of University of Helsinki on the 8-9th of June. On Friday evening there is a dinner party for the participants in the old, attractive Tulli- ja Pakkahuone in Katajannokka. The seminar is a part of the official World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 program.

In a meeting held on December 12, 2011, the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA) selected architect Esko Rautiola as the new Chairperson of the Association. At the same meeting, a new SAFA Executive Board was also chosen. The new Chair and Board are set to begin their term on January 1, 2012.
Distinguished by his many years of work in tasks associated with architectural design, expert consultation and organisational representation, Rautiola has previously served as Vice-Chairman of the SAFA Executive Board and as a jury member for numerous architectural competitions.
Rautiola shares his outlook regarding the association: "SAFA is an active and vocal participant in the ongoing civil discourse, representing architects and students of architecture from every line of business."
New members for the Executive Board
Joining Rautiola as Vice-Chairs of the new SAFA Executive Board are Head of Urban Planning for the City of Jyväskylä Leena Rossi and architect Mari Matomäki.
Several new members were appointed to join the Executive Board, namely Christer Finne, Simon LeRoux and Ari Bungers. Current board members Maija Anttila, Jari Frondelius, Maarit Kaipiainen, Tomi Perko, Juha Luoma and Aulikki Herneoja will continue in their positions.
