Basic Architectural Education

A university degree in architecture
Architecture first began to be taught in Finland in 1872. There are presently three universities in Finland where one can obtain a Masters (MSc) degree in architecture:

Aalto University
Tampere University of Technology
University of Oulu

Annually, a total of just over 100 students are accepted to start studying architecture in Finland.

Schools of Architecture outside Finland
The Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA) collates and maintains a list of the schools of architecture around the world. A list, either in paper or electronic form (e-mail enclosure or diskette) can be obtained from UIA for a fee. For more information see
